Who is the greatest sports figure from the Shreveport-Bossier area? That is the question we hope to answer in the coming weeks!

We've put together a bracket style tournament of the 37 greatest athletes, coaches, broadcasters and sports figures from Caddo and Bossier Parishes, and you decide who is the greatest. You'll also have a chance to win some fantastic prizes along the way, including an HDTV and $100 bar tab at The Sand Bar.

Voting Has Concluded!

Criteria for Selected Sports Figures

  1. Must have been born in, lived in, or have a significant connection to Caddo or Bossier Parish. This eliminates athletes like Karl Malone and Lee Smith who were not born in Caddo or Bossier Parish, but includes figures like Joe Dumars, who was born in Shreveport, but grew up in Natchitoches.
  2. Does not have to be an athlete, but must be connected to the world of sports or outdoors.
  3. Strength of connection to the Shreveport-Bossier area and overall success in their field is considered in seeding. For example, Evelyn Ashford is one of America's greatest Olympic runners, but was only born in Shreveport. Therefore, her seeding falls below someone like Josh Booty or Jacob Hester, who are heavily connected to the area.

The Sports Figures and their Seedings

Before we tell you the seeds and their divisions, we want you to know that this is all up for debate. We insist!

Tune in the Tim Fletcher Show between 6 to 9 a.m. to cuss and discuss who made the bracket, who should win and who got snubbed.

Without any further ado, here are the 37 we've chosen for our bracket. 32 just wasn't enough, so we added five more for a play-in round before the tournament proper begins,

The Independence Division

The Mudbugs Division

The Captains Division

The Mavericks Division
