Achievements:  Beard played for Southwood High School where she led her team to four consecutive state titles. The team compiled a record of 144–6 while she was there.  She scored 2,646 points during her four years, and finished her high school career with 53 consecutive victories.  Beard was named a WBCA All-American.  Attended Duke University on scholarship. During her four years, she set a school scoring record of 2,687 points. Beard is the first NCAA basketball player to amass over 2,600 points, 500 assist and 400 steals.  Reached two Final Fours and led Duke to their first ever #1 ranking in the final AP poll of her senior year.  Won multiple National Freshman of the Year Awards in 2001.  Three time AP All-American.  Won National Player of the Year Awards in 2003 and 2004 including the 2004 Naismith Player of the Year, John R. Wooden and AP National Player of the Year.  Currently plays for the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA.  Four Time WNBA All-Star.
