Evelyn Ashford

Connection:  Born in Shreveport, LA into a military family.  Settled in California by high school age.

Sport:  Track and Field

Achievements:  "One of the greatest track and field runners ever."  Member of the Track and Field Hall of Fame.  Four time Olympic gold medal winner, one Olympic silver medal.  Won Gold medal in the 100 and 200 meter in the 1979 Pan American Games.  Won Gold medals in three separate Olympics.  Track and Field News "Athlete of the Year" in 1981 and 1984
