LSU Baseball Goes Down to South Carolina, Loses First Series of Season

The 2nd ranked Tigers lost their first SEC series of the season this weekend to 10th ranked South Carolina, falling on Saturday and Sunday to the Gamecocks in Alex Box Stadium.

LSU starter Kurt McCune had a rough first inning on Sunday, giving up two runs and another in the second. LSU had only six hits and couldn't plate any runners. But LSU Baseball fans need not panic!

The SEC schedule is a gauntlet full of nationally ranked teams, and only one LSU team in history has been able to win every SEC series in a season: the 1989 team anchored by Ben McDonald. The 2013 Tigers are 39-6, 16-5 in the SEC.

Record crowds showed up in Baton Rouge over the weekend. More than 35,000 paid attendance at Alex Box for the three game series.

LSU is in the middle of an eight-game homestand. The Tigers play McNeese on Tuesday and start a three game SEC series with Florida on Thursday.
