The Centenary Gents (16-7) led every inning of Wednesday night's baseball game against the North Central Cardinals (5-5) up until the top of the 9th inning when the train fell of of the tracks for Gents relievers.

After Gents pitchers only allowed one hit in eight innings, the top of the ninth inning was not kind to closer Taylor Henry (3-2) as he allowed four runs to cross the plate.

The Cardinals' Tom Ross drove in two runs in the top of the ninth, Matt Brancato and Alex Khoury both drove in runs to take a late 5-4 lead over Centenary, a score in which North Central would ultimately win by.

Gents starting pitcher Paul Arcement threw 7 2/3 innings of one-hit baseball. Arcement struck out four and gave up three walks. Relief pitcher Layton Tromba finished the eighth inning after striking out the only batter he faced.

Centenary immediately got on the board in the bottom of the first when infielder Craig Littleman and first baseman Christian Sebastien both drove in a run to give the Gents a 2-0 advantage.

The very next inning infielder Zachary Stephenson singled home another run in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 3-1.

Another Gents run was added to the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh when outfielder Nic Parrott sent Stephenson home on a sacrifice bunt, making the score 4-1.

The victory goes to the Cards' Brendan Ryan (2-0) after pitching two innings and striking out two batters in the process.

The Gents will play again on Saturday, March 21 at home in Shehee Stadium on the Centenary campus against the Southwestern Pirates at 1 p.m.
