The Centenary Gents were on the road this weekend to face the UT Tyler Patriots for a Friday night contest and a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

The Gents wanted more from their road trip.

In Friday night's game Layton Tromba (5-3) was on the mound and struggled to find consistency in his pitches as he allowed all of the Patriots' 13 hits while giving up six runs.

The Gents jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the top of the 1st inning following a series of RBI singles from Craig Littleman, Tyler Clakely, Marc Martinez, and Zachary Stephenson.

The Patriots matched the Gents with a four run inning of their own.

The Patriots would go onto score two runs in the bottom of the 5th and one run in the bottom of the seventh.

The Gents would lose Friday night's game to the Patriots 7-4.

In Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader Cole Thompson (1-0) was on the mound for Centenary. Thompson allowed only one run, and struck out seven Patriots batters.

After scoring one run in the top of the 5th inning, the Gents scored three more runs in the top of the 6th.

Centenary's Jemari James brought home two runs in the 6th, and an additional run came home after a UT Tyler throwing error. The Gents were on top 4-1.

The Gents would win Game 1 6-3 following two more runs scored in the top of the 7th and 9th inning.

Game 2 was a different story for Centenary.

The UT Tyler Patriots jumped out to a early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st.

The Pats scored two more runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning and three more runs in each of their plate appearances in the 5th-7th innings.

The Gents' Christian Sebastien hit a three run homer in the 7th inning to cut the lead to 7-4.

After the Gents scored once more in the top of the 8th, it was not enough to overcome UT Tyler's offense.

The Gents lose Game 2 8-5.

This is the first series the Centenary Gents (25-8) would lose this season.

The Gents return to Shreveport on Saturday April 13 to face Austin College for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
