Louisiana Schooled Players Figure Big in Super Bowl XLIX

Louisiana schooled athletes made a strong showing in Super Bowl XLIX, starting with Northwestern state’s Jeremy Lane who intercepted Tom Brady in the first quarter when the patriots were threatening to score. It was Lane’s first career interception, unfortunately he broke his arm on the play and had to leave the game.

Super Bowl 49’s first points came at the hands of former LSU wideout Brandon LaFell who scored on an 11 yard pass from Tom Brady. LaFell had four catches in the game for 29 yards.

LaFell was often matched up against former Tiger defensive back Tharold Simon, who failed to get his second Super Bowl Championship ring with the Seahawks.

Former Louisiana Tech punter Ryan Allen had four punts in the game for a nice average of 49 yards, including one downed inside the 20 yard line, and he is now a world champion with the Patriots.
