Joe Burrow clearly knows more about the 2019 LSU Football team than anyone...but there are going to be a lot of people looking at him weird after his latest comments mentioning that team.

Joe Burrow is claiming his Cincinnati Bengals are reminding him of the 2019 National Championship LSU Tigers. So it's more than fair for to be a little weirded out by that comment from Burrow, because many consider that LSU team to be one of the greatest college football teams of all time. So does that mean Burrow thinks his Bengals team is going to be one of the best NFL teams ever?

Burrow is entering his seventh NFL season in 2026. Last year, the Bengals missed the playoffs and finished with a 6-11 record. Which doesn't sound like a recipe for an all-time type team.

Why LSU Fans Might Second Guess Joe Burrow's Statements

LSU fans might do a double take when they hear these statements, because Burrow led the 2019 Tigers to a 15-0 record and a national championship. That collegiate roster featured current professionals like Ja'Marr Chase (who is a Bengal alongside Burrow) and Justin Jefferson.

Burrow states the returning starters evoke the exact feeling he had before the 2019 college season. He believes significant achievement is possible with the current Cincinnati roster.

But how realistic is that really? The offense could be dangerous, if the offensive line lets Burrow stay upright, and uninjured. But the defense has had tons of issues over the last couple of season too. At least the Bengals tried to do something about that side of the ball.

Cincinnati Bengals Finalize 2026 Roster Additions

The Bengals expect immediate improvement after completing aggressive defensive upgrades. Cincinnati traded the 10ht overall draft pick to acquire veteran defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence. Which is a move that many fans applauded...except fans of other AFC North teams.

The front office also added Jonathan Allen, Bryan Cook, and Boye Mafe to the roster. Which does a lot to rebuild the Bengals quickly. Burrow restructured his contract to create $10 million dollars in salary cap space to sign more talent.

Every LSU Player Drafted By The New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints appear to be allergic to drafting LSU players. Since the franchise started, they've picked less than a dozen LSU Tigers in the annual NFL Draft.
