Tommy White Triple A Stats: LSU Legend Surges Toward MLB Promotion

Former LSU star Tommy White has been getting closer and closer to an MLB call up for the last two seasons. He's navigated his way all the way up to the Triple A level, playing for the Las Vegas Aviators. Which is kind of funny...because he plays in the Athletics system. You know, the ones who are planning to move to Las Vegas...used to be in Oakland.

White was drafted by the team while they were still identifying at the Oakland Athletics. That was back in the Second Round of the 2024 MLB Draft. He had done basically everything you can in college; set a record for Most Home Runs In A Season for Freshman, become an All-American, and even National Championship with LSU...so he was ready to take the next step.

So the selection by Oakland was exactly what Tommy White was looking for.

Why Is It Taking So Long For Tommy White To Make It To The MLB?

People were spoiled by White's former LSU teammate Paul Skenes, who made it to the majors the same year he was drafted. Skenes only made a handful of minor league starts before getting called up, and he's looked incredible since.

But Paul Skenes isn't normal.

Most players don't got straight from the MLB Draft to the big league roster. Its more likely to happen to a pitcher than a hitter in the first place, but then when we're talking about Skenes, its even on another level.

Hitters going from college or high school into pro baseball are making the difficult transition from metal bats, to wooden bats. This change might not sound like a big deal, but hitters can tell you this can make a world of difference.

So guys like Tommy White have to spend a lot of time learning what the difference in contact feels like, and how the ball acts off the wooden bat, which has less ability to launch the ball compared to the metal bats. This is where a lot of highly touted players start to fall off.

Some hitters lose their edge without the metal bat. They just can't drive the ball the same way, or have the power that they showed before getting drafted.

Thankfully...Tommy White hasn't had to worry about that.

Tommy White's Wild June In Las Vegas

There were a lot of baseball writers that thought Tommy White had a very strong chance at making the MLB club this season when they were putting out their 2026 previews. Not only did he start to show the power last season (12 home runs and 23 doubles in 93 games), but he kept that going into the Arizona Fall League.

During the fall, White had 3 home runs in 19 games, with 20 RBIs and his OPS was at .840 for the season.

That put some big attention on White coming into this season. Which he was answering, when he got promoted from Double A to Triple A earlier this year. Putting him very close to making the MLB Dream come true.

In June of 2026, White was looking at a little turbulence to his progress. He was placed on the 7 Day Injured List in early June, and it looked like problems might be mounting. But Tommy Tanks knew better.

From one extreme to the other, fans watched as Tommy White came off the Injured List on June 18th, just before their game against the Round Rock Express. White instantly showed he was back.

The final score of that game was 26-13, with Las Vegas winning. In order for Vegas to hit 26 runs, they were going to need some special moments. Including White's 2 home run night.

But just hitting 2 home runs in his first game back wasn't enough. He hit another home run the next night...and then did it again the game after. Three straight games with home runs, really trying to get the big clubs attention.

Will Tommy White Make The MLB?

At some point, Tommy White has to make the A's roster. They're playing really well, but if this guy is tearing the cover off the ball at every level, you need him in the big league lineup.

His LSU teammate already made the leap, as Gage Jump got the call earlier this year by the A's...maybe soon they will be teammates again.
