Shreveport is hosting the nation's best collegiate wakeboarders and wake-skaters this weekend, as they compete in the 2013 USA Wakeboard Collegiate Nationals. You'll be able to get down to the Red River today, Saturday and Sunday and see some amazing athletes.

Competition takes place all day each day for the most part.

  • Friday 8a - 6p
  • Saturday 9a - 6p
  • Sunday 10a - 5p

Spectators can watch from Riverview Park, but if you can put yourself anywhere along the Red River between El Dorado Casino and the Horseshoe you'll have prime viewing.  Award presentations will take place on the main stage at Mudbug Madness on Sunday night.

16 teams (or clubs) representing colleges and universities from all over will be competing.  LSU, ULM, Louisiana Tech send teams.  Johnny Zdeblick, the defending national champion in wakeboarding and wake-skating is bringing his team all the way from the University of Wisconsin.

ULM is expected to do well.  Among the talented Warhawk boarders to watch are Cody Townsend and Joel Barfield.  Airline High School alum Chase Fulco will also be competing for ULM.

Each team consists of two women, one wake-skater, and four male wakeboarders.
