Marvel Announces Michael Rooker’s Return To The MCU
Geek'd Con is Shreveport's biggest comic and pop culture event, and it will return this August for the show's 5th anniversary. The event will once again be at the Shreveport Convention Center in Downtown Shreveport. This year's show will be on August 16th-18th.
Michael Rooker is on his way to Downtown Shreveport for Geek'd Con in a couple of weeks. After that, he's going to make his return to the Marvel MCU.
It's something that has been in doubt for a long time, since Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn publicly stated that if Rooker's character Yondu were to return to the Marvel movies, he'd never make another movie for the studio. He's got good reason, but that was a world where Marvel's "What If....?" only existed in the comic books.
Now, "What If...?" is coming to the MCU, Rooker's Yondu can return without upsetting anyone. Because of that, Rooker's return has already been confirmed by Marvel when they announced the cast for the series...
There's Rooker's mug, alongside other stars like Michael B. Jordan, Josh Brolin, Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Douglas, and way more heavy hitters from the MCU.
The "What If...?" series will be part of Marvel's Phase 4, which you can see below.
In the comics, "What If...?" follows major comic stars, in story lines that live outside of main stories. The series began with "What If Spider-Man Had Joined The Fantastic Four?", and included story lines like "What If The Avengers Had Never Been", "What If The Hulk Had The Brain of Bruce Banner", and "What If Doctor Doom Had Become A Hero".
There's no word yet on what story Rooker will be involved with for the MCU, but with the casting of fellow Ravagers Sean Gunn and Chris Sullivan, as well as Djimon Housou, who played Korath The Pursuer, it's safe to say there's a chance it could be a story about the Ravagers having some kind of run-in with Ronan The Accuser's crew.
