In a battle of Tigers on Sunday afternoon, the Tigers from Baton Rouge defeat the ones from Grambling 6-0.

Coach Paul Manieri relied on the arm of true freshman Jared Poche.

Manieri was impressed with Poche's mechanics, who pitched six-innings of shutout baseball.

According to the Baton Rouge Advocate, Poche was one of four true freshmen that started the game. First baseman Kramer Robertson, who is the son of former Louisiana Tech women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey, Danny Zardon, and designated hitter Dakota Dean.

LSU got their first run in the second inning after centerfielder Andrew Stevenson singled to left field to bring home catcher Kade Scivicque. Stevenson would score later in the same frame.

LSU's scoring was highlighted in the seventh inning by first baseman Chris Chinea's home run. That was LSU's first home run of the season.

With Sunday's win, LSU is now 3-0 on the season after defeating UNO on Friday and Saturday.

Paul Manieri and company will host the Southeastern Lions on Wednesday.
