The LSU baseball team has started the season HOT... and they've started the last three games HOT as well, sending at least nine batters to the plate in the 1st inning. On Wednesday, LSU beat Southern for the second straight day, winning 16-2 in Alex Box. 16 runs is a season high for the LSU offense.

Freshman sensation Alex Bregman extended his hitting streak to 22 games.  Senior Mason Katz knocked in his NCAA leading 60th RBI.  Third baseman Christian Ibarra had a three run double in the fourth, an inning in which the Tiger offense scored seven runs.

LSU used seven pitchers in the game.  Starter Hunter Devall got the win in his first career start.  Devall gave up one hit and a run in two innings work.  Senior closer and Byrd grad Chris Cotton pitched the ninth, giving up one hit, no runs and striking out two.

LSU gets back to SEC play on Friday with a three game series against Arkansas in Fayettville.
