Tommy White MLB Draft Update: LSU Star Progressing with Athletics

Former LSU superstar Tommy White secured a national championship during his time in Baton Rouge. He was a dominant offensive force for the Tigers during his Louisiana tenure. His transition to professional baseball has been steady.

White was second round pick of the (then) Oakland Athletics in 2024. Since then he's been hitting his way through the A's farm system.

The Athletics organization lists the former college standout among their premier minor league assets. He ranks inside the Top 10 overall prospects for the franchise as the 2026 season continues.

White's Minor League Progress And Major League Timeline

Fans of the LSU baseball program probably aren't going to monitor his statistics closely, so we figured it would be good to give a little update on where his pro career is at.

In late April, White got the call to the AAA Las Vegas Aviators for the first time. Prior to that call up the highest level White played at was AA. In his first 15 games at AAA, White already has 2 home runs, and 13 RBIs. At this moment, he's hitting .343 in his first 67at bats in AAA.

So far, White has shown a consistent ability to drive in runs at the professional level...which mirrors his previous collegiate production. His presence at the plate is still being refined...while he has the bat-to-ball skills to be a powerful hitter, White's pitch selection has needed the most work.

If he maintains his current numbers at the plate, his promotion to the big leagues might not be too far away.

Expectations For The Current Baseball Season

White continues to refine his offensive production within the minor league system. Minor league hitting coordinators have noted his swing progression, and plate discipline during recent evaluations. His daily swing mechanics remain a coaching focal point.

This season's performance so far indicates a reliable trajectory toward the major league roster. Analysts project his official arrival could happen rapidly if his daily hitting trends remain consistent.
