With a 4-0 win against Grambling St. Wednesday night, LSU has improved to 35-3 -- the best mark in school history.

LSU put ten pitchers on the mound to combine for the shut-out, holding GSU to just three hits.  Lefty Brent Bonvillian started the game, giving up no hits in two innings.  Righty Kurt McCune came on in the third and got the win, giving up two hits.  Byrd product Chris Cotton came on in the ninth and threw two strikes to record the last out.

LSU only collected three hits themselves.  The first score in the game came in the third inning, LSU scored two on a Grambling error.  Christian Ibarra added to the lead with a two-run homer in the sixth.

Paul Mainieri said, "Quite frankly, we weren’t prepared for the kind of arm Grambling’s starting pitcher had, and our players had a difficult time making adjustments.  He threw his fastball at 88-91 miles per  hour, and he featured a very good breaking ball and change-up."

LSU has won 31 straight mid-week games, and 24 in a row against in-state opponents.  The Fightin' Tigers will head to Tuscaloosa this weekend for a three game set with Alabama.  Listen to the games right here on 1130 the Tiger.  Coverage on Friday begins at 6pm.
