LSU Baseball Explodes for 17 Runs in Win Over Air Force
The LSU Baseball team has started the season 3-0, after sweeping their opening weekend at Alex Box Stadium. The Tigers finished off the multi-team sweep with a 17-5 win over Air Force today.
The Tigers scored in 5 of their 8 innings sending hitters to the plate, opening up the game with 7 runs in their half of the first inning. By the end of the game, the Tigers had put together 20 hits, including 9 doubles.
On the mound, starting pitcher Jaden Hill pitched a solid 5 innings for the Tigers on his way to the victory. Hill struck out 8, while only giving up 4 hits and one earned run. The Tigers bullpen served up 4 innings, giving up 4 earned runs.
The Tigers will now take their undefeated record into a pair of in-state tests this week, including their first road game. Tuesday night, the Tigers will host Southeastern Louisiana, before they make their first road appearance of the year Wednesday night in Natchitoches at Brown-Stroud Field against Northwestern State.
In last season's NCAA Tournament, the Tigers were responsible for sending NSU home from the Regionals in Corvallis. So Wednesday's game will be dripping with hints of revenge.
