At the start of the LSU Tigers Baseball season, the team was sporting a #1 national ranking. There were a lot of high expectations for the team. Fast forward to the selection period for the NCAA Baseball Tournament, and fans are excited about some achievements you probably wouldn't expect from a team who started the season with so much hype.

The LSU Baseball team might have done JUST enough to secure a Regional series in Baton Rouge. Which should have been a slam dunk based on the hype leading into this season.

But according to The Advocate, it wasn't until their display at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama that LSU secured the Regional for Baton Rouge. In their piece, they say:

"No one will know for certain until 7:30 p.m. Sunday night. That’s when the 16 regional host sites will be announced on NCAA.com, on the NCAA’s Twitter account and on the Bottom Line on the ESPN channels.

Expect to see the words “Baton Rouge” flitting across the screen...It promises not to be as anxious a wait for LSU as it might have looked at the start of this tournament. The Tigers run-ruling Mississippi State on Friday should have taken care of that. LSU’s RPI shot up five spots to No. 16 after beating the Bulldogs. Getting nearly run-ruled by Vandy (No. 2 in the RPI after slipping behind UCLA overnight Friday) shouldn’t be a drag on LSU’s chances very much considering the Commdores’ lofty status."
