Well, the Texas Rangers listened to management, and have forced themselves into a definitive position hours before the MLB Trade Deadline.

With roughly 24 hours to go, the Rangers have moved themselves squarely into "buyer" territory. A position that some fans and reporters didn't see them getting to when the front office issued a quasi ultimatum about the Trade Deadline.

Texas Rangers Front Office Challenge Before The Trade Deadline

Earlier this year, Texas Rangers President of Baseball Operations Chris Young went on the record that they would not be "buyers" at the deadline if they were a .500 ballclub. That seemed to light a fire under the Rangers squad, because they have started to play really good baseball.

The Rangers have put themselves just 1 game back of the Wild Card with 24 hours to go until the trade deadline. They're 56-52 at the start of the day on July 30th, and in a position to make some noise in the second half of the season.

The Texas Rangers Have A Talented Team

Looking at the Rangers roster, its not a bad team. The starting rotation has Cy Young talent with Jacob deGrom, All Star talent with Nathan Eovaldi and Patrick Corbin, with young talent like Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter. This is a pitching staff built to win now...they've just been bit by injuries.

On offense, you pretty much have all the pieces you won a World Series with. Players like Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, Ezeguiel Duran, and Jonah Heim are all still there. But the offense has dealt with cool periods and injuries this year as well.

Just because you have the parts, doesn't mean you're winning games. But it means the pieces are there.

Are The Texas Rangers Going To Trade Adolis Garcia?

One of the remaining World Series bats is outfielder and Texas fan favorite Adolis Garcia. Who happened to be the focused of trade rumors when it looked like the Rangers were going to sell parts off. Now that they've forced themselves into the Wild Card picture, his chances of staying in Texas are a lot better...but he still could get dealt.

The Texas Rangers Are Now Trade Deadline Buyers

The Rangers now feel like "buyers" and reporters think they're going to make a move before the deadline, even if its symbolic. The front office might look to reward the team's play by adding a bullpen arm, or maybe even a closer. But with the results they put up on the field after Chris Young's statement, they should do something.
