According to Gov.  Bobby Jindall,  the State Fair of Louisiana is the largest carnival and livestock show in the state and draws over 400,000 visitors to the area.   Raising a livestock animal for competition is a difficult task.  You have to get up early and feed your animal every morning and take care of them on a daily basis -  a big responsibility for any youngster.

My hats off to these young 4-H 'ers and FFA members.   They learn life lessons by becoming involved in raising animals for show and sale through their  dedication and hard work.

Today,  you can enjoy goats,  does,   lambs,   ewes,  sheep.    The best part may be the judging of the hogs.  Some fetch thousands of dollars,  that the 4-H and FFA students can use for college or trade school.  Many from the ArkLaTex attend Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA.

Check out the schedule and times for all the Junior Livestock Show and Sale activities by visiting the State Fair of Louisiana website.
