One day before their 2019 preseason opener, the New Orleans Saints made a roster move, adding a veteran running back to their roster.

The team signed running back Kerwynn Williams on Thursday.

To make room for Williams, the Saints waived running back Matthew Dayes with an injury designation.

After playing his college football at Utah St., Williams was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the 7th-round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Following his NFL debut in 2013, in which he played in one game for the Indianapolis Colts, Williams, joined the Arizona Cardinals, where he has spent 5 seasons, prior to not playing last season.

The 5-foot-8, 198-pound Williams had his best season for the Cardinals in 2017, appearing in all 16 games, including 6 starts, while rushing for 426 yards.

In parts of 6 NFL seasons, Williams the 28-year old Williams has rushed for 971 yards and four touchdowns.

Dayes was signed by the Saints on May 28, after appearing in 7 games for the San Francisco 49ers last season.
