What Are NFL Joint Practices?

NFL joint practices involve two teams conducting structured drills on the same field prior to a preseason game. Coaches from both organizations coordinate specific scenarios to test their starting units against unfamiliar opponents. These controlled environments allow coaches to run plays without full contact regulations.

These sessions provide controlled repetitions that traditional training camp practices lack. Teams utilize the controlled scrimmages to evaluate depth charts and finalize roster cuts before the regular season begins...providing data on player performance.
