New Orleans Saints starting Defensive Tackle Nick Fairley has been dealing with an uncertain medical future this offseason. Which happens to be the same offseason that he signed his new 4-year, $28 million contract with the Saints, compounding the stress.

Fairley has played his entire NFL career with an enlarged heart condition, but during a recent medical examination, a doctor noted that his condition has worsened. The doctor expressed concern that the condition would end Fairley's career. Which promoted Fairley and the team to look for further evaluations.

According to the Louisiana Radio Network, Saints Coach Sean Payton says Fairely had a third examination this week and they are waiting on the results.

It's unclear at this time if a medial end to Fairley's career would immediately impact the Saints salary cap for this season, but it will absolutely have an immediate impact on the team's depth chart. Especially after the team chose to pass on defensive line help in the NFL Draft this year.
