LSU remains number one by a razor-thin margin over Alabama after the Fightin' Tigers clobbered Tennessee 38-7 in Knoxville.   The Tigers played with great finesse behind starting quarterback Jarrett Lee,  but there were also great plays from Jordan Jefferson.

It was the Tigers largest ever romp over Tennessee who volunteered for the butt-whoopin'.  Another star who shone bright for the Tigers was Morris Claiborne with his 89-yard interception.

LSU has won four road games  and defeated four ranked opponents this season.   The Tigers also led 17-7 at halftime and were able to outdo Tennessee in yardage in the second half,  222-61.  That led to them outscoring the Vols 21-0.

It all comes down to LSU extending its back to back double-digit margins of victory tying the school's record from 2010.

The Tigers face Auburn this Saturday down in "Death Valley."   Pregame is at 12:30 pm with kickoff at 2:30 and you can hear all the action on your home for the LSU Tigers,  AM 1130,  KWKH.

So what made the AP poll rankings spread so close this time? It was because the Crimson Tide of Alabama soundly defeated Ole Miss in Mississippi 52 to 7,  solidifying the Tide's close to the top number 2 ranking.

Alabama has the number one defense in the nation and a Heisman Trophy candidate similar to  Mark Ingram in Trent Richardson.

But,  Alabama always  has trouble at the start of the game.  It was dejavu all over again,  when Ole Miss threw a touchdown pass on their opening drive.

The same thing happened in Bama's  game against Florida, before the Gators first string quarterback was injured.

The November 5th match up between LSU and Alabama very well may be the best game of this entire season.   It no doubt will result in an SEC champion,  possibly even the  national champion.
