No second degree battery charges were filed against LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson and linebacker Josh Johns by an East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury.

The star athletes were accused after a brawl in August outside Shady's bar near the  LSU campus.

BUT,  Jefferson WAS charged with  simple battery.  He could get up to a year in jail and a fine of up to one-thousand dollars if convicted.

All charges against Johns were dropped.  The news was announced last night by Coach Les Miles.

On his weekly radio show on am 1130,  KWKH,  Miles talked about when the two players would be allowed to play again with the number one ranked Tigers.

He said Jefferson was not only reinstated just hours after the grand jury's decision, but he was moved ahead of Zach Mettenberger as the No. 2 quarterback on the team.

Here's the news as it broke on WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge.
