LSU Football Legends Helping on Recruiting Trail
You might think college football season takes place only between August and January. But that's not what life in 2024. The college football season is a year-round activity.
While the games only count when they're on the official schedule, the games that take place on the recruiting trail mean almost as much. Because if you don't have a successful result in recruiting, the odds of you putting up wins on the schedule drops.
The LSU football program, under Head Coach Brian Kelly, have started relying on a tremendous resource that only LSU can use. Their former stars.
While other schools can obviously rely on their former football stars to hit the recruiting trail, former LSU players are only recruiting for LSU. Not to mention the fact that many former LSU stars are the type of players and personalities that connect with highly recruited players.
Names like Ryan Clark, who is a former LSU star, and current ESPN analyst. Someone that recruits see when they tune into the "worldwide leader in sports" to see football coverage.
DeathValleyVoice.com reports that LSU has been bringing in stars like Clark to meet with recruits. They report that Clark recently met with highly recruited defender Charles Ross. On top of that, Clark coaches the Fleaux 7 on 7 team, which is loaded with players LSU would love to attract in the recruiting process.
But Clark isn't the only former Tiger helping out.
Former Tigers Patrick Peterson, DJ Pickett, and Ja'Marr Chase have all pitched in this summer. With Chase spending time with the highly recruited wide receiver Dakorien Moore.
Chase is a tremendous piece for LSU to rely on. His status with LSU is legendary, and his NFL highlights are flashy. But most importantly, he's about to be paid.
His former LSU teammate Justin Jefferson was just given one of the richest contracts in NFL history, with a 4-year, $140 million contract from the Minnesota Vikings. Chase is still looking for his new deal from the Cincinnati Bengals (or whichever team will end up paying him), and that contract will likely look similar.
So when Chase is talking to LSU recruits, he can show them what it looks like when you become a legend in purple and gold, and get to the NFL.
