Across the country, many have placed a big question mark on the LSU defense. But after Tuesday’s final preseason scrimmage, the defense reportedly dominated and Les Miles says he’s not surprised.

He had high praise for cornerbacks Jalen Mills, Jalen Collins and former Green Oaks star and true freshman Tre-Davious White saying they virtually shut down the Tigers veteran receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry.

The scrimmage was closed to the public but Miles says the competition was fierce enough that you could've sold tickets.

LSU’s biggest losses came on the defensive line with four players taken in the NFL Draft.  Projected starting Defensive End Jermauria Rasco has spent some time away from practice with a shoulder injury but he did play in the scrimmage. Junior Jordan Allen of West Monroe has seen more action in the wake of Rasco’s absence and has impressed in the last two scrimmages.

Miles is high on his linebacking core saying he thinks it’s the most talented bunch LSU has had in a while.

The offense was led in rushing by Alfred Blue, and Travin Dural did have a touchdown catch, but he added that there was some sloppy play in regards to penalties.

LSU opens the season August 31st against TCU in the Cowboys Classic.
