LSU Beats South Carolina in Game 1
After last night's rain out at Carolina Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina, the Tigers are being forced to play a doubleheader today. Doubleheaders are rough, but I am only speaking from the announcer's point of view.
Luckily, the Tigers were able to survive the first test for today, here's how it all happened!
Tigers' catcher Jordy Snikeris was a hitting machine in this ballgame, going 2-for-4, which included a 1st inning, two out single to bring home Tigers' senior shortstop Austin Nola.
Moving it along to the top of the 4th inning, LSU still on top 1-0, where Tigers' second baseman Jacoby Jones is on second base and Tigers' centerfielder Arby Fields brings Jones home on a RBI single to right field!
South Carolina Gamecocks' shortstop Joey Pankake (not a typo) brings home a run via the RBI single in the 4th inning, to cut LSU's lead down to 2-1.
Tigers' first baseman Mason Katz, decides he wants to add more to the score and sends a solo home run into the seats! That was Katz's 11th long ball of the season, and his second homer in two consecutive games! That gave LSU the 3-1 lead!
Finally, in the top of the 9th, the previously mentioned hitting machine for the day sends a long ball himself out to the seats, giving the Tigers the 5-1 advantage! The Fightin' Tigers would go onto win by that score. With Game 2 of today's doubleheader occurring as we read this, after that game we will have a better understanding of where LSU standing in the overall SEC standings.
