LSU Baseball Shuts Out Nicholls: No. 4 Tigers Improve to 10-1

The 4th ranked Tigers won another game against an in-state rival on Sunday, defeating Nicholls St. 2-0 in Alex Box Stadium. LSU, coming off a 2 game series sweep of Brown on Friday and Saturday, got a masterful performance from Sophomore left-hander Cody Glenn. Glenn threw seven innings of shutout ball, giving up only three hits. Glenn got the win, Chris Cotton got his third save of the season.

Nicholls starter Taylor Byrd gave an admirable effort, but picked up the loss. Byrd didn't give up a hit until the fifth inning, but gave up four consecutive singles in the sixth allowing the Tigers two runs scored.

Center-fielder Mark Laird and shortstop Alex Bregman each had RBI singles.

LSU combined for seven hits. Raph Rhymes and Mason Katz each extended their hitting streak to nine games.

Jase Robertson of A&E's "Duck Dynasty" participated in the first-pitch ceremonies.

LSU plays Stephen F. Austin at 6:30pm on Tuesday in Alex Box. You'll next hear LSU baseball on 1130 the Tiger on Friday against Washington.
