There's a big dog hunt going on as Ruston residents look to bring Louisiana Tech University mascot Tech XX back home.

According to the Shreveport Times, Tech XX, who is the 4-year-old English bulldog and the face of Louisiana Tech, has been missing since Sunday night. He was last seen by a worker at the animal clinic where he was staying in northeast Ruston.

He was let out at to take a leak at about 8 p.m. When the worker came to let Tech XX back in, he was gone.

Dr. Patrick Sexton, caretaker for Tech XX and owner of the animal clinic said, "He wasn't outside five minutes and he was gone."

Sexton is offering a $1,000 reward for the dog's safe return. Tech XX was named mascot in 2008 when he was just a 3-month-old pup.

Across Ruston on Monday, students and community members distributed fliers. They also worked to spread the word of the missing mascot through social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag, #FindTechXX.
