Football Rumors: Shreveport Could Host Louisiana Tech Against Baylor In 2030

Big news dropped for college football fans all over the place today, as teams started posting their non-conference schedules for next season. Folks in North Louisiana got a little treat as Louisiana Tech officially announced their non-conference opponents for the 2026 season.

The one of the headline grabbers is a trip to Waco, where the Bulldogs will face the Baylor Bears, replacing a game Baylor originally had scheduled against SMU.

What This Means For Louisiana Tech

This matchup is a major get for the Bulldogs, giving them a shot at a Power 4 opponent just a few hours down the road. Which of course comes with a good paycheck.

While the 2026 game is confirmed, the real intrigue is bubbling around the second part of this agreement...something that could bring the action right to our doorstep. One report that was buried in the rush of schedule announcements included a little detail about the second part of the Louisiana Tech-Baylor agreement.

Independence Stadium 2030 Neutral Site Game

According to a report from the schedule watchdogs at FBSchedules, the contract between Tech and Baylor actually includes a return game in 2030. Now most of these 2-game agreements have a home-and-home element, where each team hosts one another either in back-to-back seasons, or within the same schedule window. The report states that instead of playing in Ruston, the two teams will meet for a neutral site clash at Independence Stadium...which would be absolutely massive for Shreveport.

We have to treat this as a rumor for now, since neither school has officially blasted it out on their social media yet. But if the contract details reported are accurate, we need to start getting ready now for a Big 12 invasion in 2030...because that would be an incredible event for the city.
