Louisiana State Fair Opens Thursday — Foods, Rides & More You Might Want to Try
The State Fair of Louisiana opens Thursday and runs through November 10th.
THE FOOD
Now part of the fun of the State Fair is trying out so many great food items. Here are some of the specialties on the menu this year:
Grilled Onion Burgers, Fried Cookie Dough on a Stick, hog on a log, corny
poles, Chocolate dipped cheesecake, S’more on a stick, fried butter, chicken Fried Bacon, Chocolate Covered Bacon, stuffed Potatoes, boudin on a stick, fried brownie and so much more.
COOKING CONTESTS
The State Fair also has several cooking contests. Great chefs from around the region will be here to test out their culinary skills. Get more info. There's a beef stew cook-off, a beef chili cookoff, a mexican beef contest, pecan cake and candy competitions, and kids cookie decorating.
THE RIDES
Of course, you will have the traditional Ferris Wheel, Tilt-O-Whirl, Merry-Go-Round, bumper cars. There will also be some really scary ones that will generate long lines. Crabtree Amusement will run the midway this year and the rides will accept tokens and armbands.

- Unlimited carnival ride armbands are good for unlimited Crabtree Amusement carnival rides. Good for one day and one person only. Non-transferrable
