Skip Holtz is already hard at work for the Tech Football team. On Wednesday, Holtz announced the signing of three junior college players to national letters of intent.

Joining the Louisiana Tech Family are defensive tackle DeAngelo Brooks and linebackers Tony Johnson and Nick Thomason.

Brooks (6-0, 310) comes from Kilgore Junior College in Kilgore, Texas where he amassed 52 total tackles (32 solo, 20 assisted) during his freshman season in 2011. He registered six tackles for a loss, one sack and one pass break-up that year. During the 2012 season he led his team to an 8-3 record. He is a product of Shreveport’s Airline High School where he won two state titles in wrestling.

Johnson (6-2, 236) joins Tech from Southwest Mississippi Community College where he was a First Team All-State linebacker in 2011. He was the team’s leading tackler in 2012 and played on all units of special teams. A product of Sulligent, Ala. (Sulligent High School), Johnson led his team to the state championship game in his junior season.

Thomason (6-1, 235) comes from Northeast Mississippi Community College where he was a First Team All-State honoree despite missing three games with a knee injury in 2012. Thomason chose Tech over 17 other offers, including Troy, Arkansas State, Rutgers, Houston and Middle Tennessee. A product of Muscle Shoals High School in Alabama, Thomason recorded 170 tacklse as a junior. He averaged over 12 tackles a game during the 2012 season.
