Joe Vitt never thought he'd be happy to see a bunch of reporters at a press conference! But that's exactly what he was yesterday when he addressed the media for the first time since returning to his Interim Head Coach position after serving a 6 game suspension.

Vitt was able to return to the team as soon as the clock expired in the Saints Game 6 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  He wasn't in the locker room in Tampa after the Saint's 35-28 win, but he was on the team's plane for the flight home to New Orleans.  He's ready to get back to work.

Vitt was asked what he did to pass the time while under suspension.

There is nothing you can do to fill this void. At the end of the day, my wife (Linda) should be nominated for the Ed Block Courage award. My wife is a great mother and wife, but she really became a great friend to me over this time. I did some work with the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund with the wounded warriors. I was able to speak a couple of times to my University – Towson, even before we played LSU. I spent time in LaPlace speaking with the flood victims there. I talked to Tulane’s football team. I stayed as busy as I could for as long as I could. I know I looked at my watch and the calendar a lot.

Joe will help the Saints prepare for Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos this Sunday night.  You can hear the Saints vs. Broncos Sunday Night on 1130 the Tiger.
