Last year, around this time, former LSU right hander Kevin Gausman was pitching in the SEC tournament. But tonight, Gausman will make his major league debut when he takes the mound as the Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher in Toronto.

The Orioles have called up the former All-American after just eight minor league starts.

Gausman allowed 21 runs (16 earned) on 44 hits this season for the Bowie (Md.) Baysox, the Orioles’ Double-A affiliate. He posted a 3.11 ERA over 46.1 innings with 49 strikeouts and just five walks.

O's manager Buck Showalter spoke about why he's calling up Kevin so soon.  He said, "We're trying to win, and we think he can help us."
