David Toms played an almost flawless 36 holes on Monday in the Memphis Sectional Qualifier and played well enough to earn a spot in next week's U.S. Open at Pinehurst.

They call it "Golf's Longest Day" for the fact that you must play 36 holes in a single day to earn a qualification for the U.S. Open.  There were 10 sectional qualifiers taking place on Monday.  Toms played at Colonial Country Club in Memphis and was one of 13 golfers (out of 145 in the field, including two other major champions) to qualify for the 2014 U.S. Open.

Toms finished Monday at -8 after 36 holes, tied for third best score.  Others to qualify along with Toms include Jeff Maggert, J.B. Holmes and two amateurs.

Two fellow former LSU Tigers weren't able to qualify on Monday.  Andrew Loupe and John Peterson finished 2 above par for the day and failed to qualify for the PGA’s second major of the season.

In the Houston sectional Monday, current LSU golfer and former Loyola College Prep star Eric Ricard finished 4 over and missed the cut.

Below, are the scores from the golfers who qualified through the Memphis Sectional along with Toms.
