The Dallas Cowboys Could Take This Quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft
The 2025 NFL Draft kicks off tonight, with the First Round of the draft being held in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The rest of the draft will take place over the next few days, and will also happen in Green Bay.
This draft has a lot of intrigue, as there's really only one player that in a consensus target for any NFL team. That is Miami quarterback Cam Ward, who is projected to be the first overall pick by the Tennessee Titans. But nearly every other team in the draft feels pretty undecided on what they will be doing, especially in the first round.
Which includes the Dallas Cowboys, who will be entering their first season under new coach Brian Schottenheimer. That means the team could be looking to make some big moves with their roster.
Where Do The Dallas Cowboys Pick in the First Round of the 2025 NFL Draft?
The Dallas Cowboys have the 12th overall pick in the first round of the NFL Draft. This pick could be pretty valuable, depending on what players slide out of the top 10 picks. If one of the top 3 quarterbacks slide out of the first 10 picks, things could get very interesting for the Cowboys.
Would the Cowboys take a big swing on someone like quarterback Shedeur Sanders from Colorado? Maybe. His father is Cowboys legend Deion Sanders, which would make for massive storylines. But with current Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott under long-term contract, would it make sense to spend that level of draft pick on a quarterback?
It probably won't be a first round pick that the Cowboys use on a quarterback...but reports are that the team does want to add one.
What Quarterback Is Being Suggested As a Cowboys' Target?
It probably won't be Shedeur Sanders, but instead a name like Seth Henigan could be the latest quarterback added to the Cowboys' roster.
Henigan played his college football at Memphis, and was one of the best football players in program history. He holds Memphis records for career record, completions, attempts, completion percentage, yards, and passing touchdowns. He also ended his college career at the Senior Bowl in 2025 by throwing a game winning touchdown on the final play of the game.
What really makes Henigan an interesting choice for Dallas is that he's a Texas native. Not just a Texas native, but he grew up in Denton, Texas, where he also played his high school football.
If the Cowboys were to aim for a player like Henigan, it would likely be in the 6th or 7th round. So the Cowboys could draft a quarterback...just not in the first round.
