It wasn't a good year for Auburn as they finished the 2012 season 3-9 with their biggest embarrassment on Saturday, losing to the Alabama Crimson Tide 49-0. As a result, Auburn Tigers' head coach Gene Chizik was terminated on Sunday.

Just two years ago in 2010 Auburn made history by winning the national championship and have been on a downward slide ever since.

"After careful consideration and a thorough evaluation of our football program, I have recommended that Coach Chizik not be retained," said Jay Jacobs, Auburn athletic director. "President Jay Gogue has accepted my recommendation. Earlier this morning, I informed Gene that he will not return as head coach."

Chizik was under a contract that that would pay him $3.5 million a year through the year 2015 and had a nicely-sized buyout, too.
