The Advocare V100 Bowl is in the process of evaluating teams to invite to Shreveport. Bowl officials hope that Notre Dame will be one of the two teams in Shreveport on New Year's Eve.

The Advocare V100 Bowl has tie-ins with the ACC and the SEC.  The ACC will satisfy it’s responsibility of sending their #6 ranked team (after BCS bids)  to play at Independence Stadium. But the SEC tie-in will not be met as there are not enough bowl eligible teams in the conference.

Bowl officials have Notre Dame as their number one choice as a wildcard team. The Irish are 8-4 on the season but may receive invites from multiple bowls. They did play in the Independence Bowl in 1997.

The AdvoCare V100 Bowl’s best chance to draw Notre Dame would be to provide Boston College or Miami – longtime, bitter rivals of Notre Dame – for the New Year’s Eve battle at Independence Stadium.
