Fans of both the Byrd Yellow Jackets and Loyola Flyers who hoped to see a well played game between the teams were disappointed Wednesday afternoon.

With the Loyola Flyers having a 6-5 lead over Byrd in the bottom of the 7th inning, the rain kicked in at The Hive.

The game was officially called in the bottom of the 7th, when the Yellow Jackets were batting and had the tying run at second base.

This comes after the Flyers rallied after an early rain delay, in the top of the 7th inning when Loyola was down 5-2, and managed to take the lead.

Byrd, coached by Al Cantwell, never completed the frame.

As a result of the game being called, the game will not count in the standings.

The Yellow Jackets return to the diamond tonight when they face the Haughton Buccaneers tonight at 6 p.m. at The Hive.
