On a night where the Byrd Yellow Jackets celebrated their Homecoming, it turns out the performance on the field was something to celebrate even more, as the Jackets advance to 7-0.

With their 28-3 stinging of the Gators, this is the first time since 2011 Byrd is 7-0.

The Gators defense, which is arguably one of the best in District 1-5A, did their job in holding the Jackets from scoring more points. So far this season, Byrd is averaging 55 points a game.

Starting quarterback Tyler Howard did not play in this game due to an injury, but Deuce Caston filled in, and played quite well. Caston connected to senior wide receiver Jordan Powell twice for two touchdowns, from 60 and 20 yards out.

The Jackets scored another touchdown when LSU commit Michael Dunman caught a 33 yard pass from Casten, to set up a four yard touchdown sprint from Louis Mills.

Byrd's defense was effective too. Chandler Nance kept the Gators from scoring as he had three sacks.

After Friday's game, the Jackets will prepare to face one of the best teams in Louisiana, in the Parkway Panthers next Friday night. You can hear the game on 1130 The Tiger.
