The Super Bowl is this Sunday, February 7th. And while most of us will be watching the game anyway, there is something even more special for us to keep an eye on in Northwest Louisiana. For the second year in a row, a local guy will be a Super Bowl Champion.

In last year's big game, Mo Claiborne of Shreveport was on the Kansas City Chiefs when they took on Trent Taylor's, also of Shreveport, San Francisco 49ers. Even though Mo Claiborne didn't play in the game, he did get a Super Bowl ring. This year's big game is going to be a little bit different as both of our local guys are starters for their respective teams.

Springhill's Devin White is a 'Captain' on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense, the leading tackler on the team and a huge playmaker. For the Kansas City Chiefs, L'Jarius Sneed of Minden has quickly leaped up the depth chart to become KC's top cornerback. Despite only playing in 9 games during the regular season, Sneed was able snag 3 interceptions and make 2 sacks.

There was some worry that Sneed would not make the Super Bowl on Sunday due to being in concussion protocol, but the breakout star was cleared for play and back on the field for practice Monday. The Tech alum is expected to be at full speed and attempting to shut down Tom Brady and the potent Bucs offense.

Both the Chiefs and Bucs are known more for their offenses, but if you look at their numbers, both teams have stout defenses. So, while many experts predict a high scoring game, it could just as easily end up being 14-10. Either way, who ever wins, is going to need some big plays from their defenses. And both Sneed and White are the big time defensive playmakers for their respective squads.

So not only will we have a local Super Bowl Champion for the 2nd year in a row, but there's also a good chance that either White or Sneed makes the play of the game and has a 'Malcom Butler' moment.
