After contrasting reports and rumors about the health of New Orleans Pelicans oft-injured but supremely talented star Zion Williamson, the team released a medical update this afternoon.

What can we gather from the latest Zion update?

On one hand, there is no reported setback, something Pelicans fans have grown accustomed to when it comes to injured players.

But Zion also remains out indefinitely, as the likelihood of him not suiting up for a game this season increases.

Prior to the NBA All-Star break two weeks ago, contrasting reports came out regarding Zion's immediate future.

One report was an expectation he would be returning to play for the team soon, while another report suggested he may be heading for a second surgery on his foot.

Is the fact that surgery wasn't mentioned in today's medical update something to read into?

On one hand, the news is positive. Zion is finally returning to basketball activities.

On the other, he's still out indefinitely.

Despite Zion's absence this season, the Pelicans are trending upwards. Currently at 10th place in the Western Conference after a 1-12 start, New Orleans has won the last two since returning from the All-Star break, and newly acquired guard CJ McCollum continues to thrive in the offense.
