Vaccination Efforts Nationwide Begin to Slow Down
Some experts are worried that our country's vaccination efforts are slowing down a little too early.
Sure, I won't argue with you if you say things are starting to feel pretty normal. However, if you take a step back, you'll see that we're not out of the woods yet. Absolutely, I agree that things feel more normal than any other time since the pandemic hit, but there's still work to be done before we get out of this mess.
That's one reason our nation's decline in covid-19 vaccination efforts has experts worried. Currently, we're sitting at an 11% decline in vaccination numbers. Of course, the larger that percentage gets, the longer our nation's overall COVID-19 vaccine campaign will take. The longer our overall campaign takes, the more likely COVID-19 variants could become a huge problem.
State Health Officer Dr. Joe Kanter says, "Across the country and across the world there is a particular urgency with the vaccine efforts right now with the variants and you can look across the country in Michigan, the northeast, a couple of other states are really experiencing that."
Speaking about Louisianians, he says, "We need to be targeting Louisianans who have been waiting and seeing what is going to happen, who might have questions, who might intend to get vaccinated but don’t feel that urgency at this moment.”
Expect Louisiana to ramp up its vaccination efforts in the coming days and weeks, as other states will be doing the same to get our overall campaign back on a speedy track.
