The LSU versus Ole Miss football game this year was setting up to be a legendary one. Two teams that were ranked, a couple of teams that were considered playoff contenders, and two coaches who were constantly trolling each other. But that's not what we're about to see.

The game we're about to see is one where neither team are undefeated, neither team feel like playoff favorites right now (both have a chance to make it still, but they don't feel like they can win the playoffs), and both are pretty beaten up.

When you talk about NFL teams, you know they will be full of injuries, and everyone will have to play through them. But you don't need to be undefeated in the NFL to have a shot at the Super Bowl. In fact, you can lose a handful of games and still have a chance. But in college football, you still need to win a large percentage of your games to have a chance at a championship...even with the new playoff rules.

So when college teams get banged up, they can see their entire season get derailed. Which is about where LSU is right now.

The LSU Tigers will be missing numerous starters for sure, and have others listed at "questionable" and "doubtful" for Saturday's game. On the other side, Ole Miss will also have players out...but not to the degree LSU will.

Even with all of the names on the injury reports, this game will still have major impacts on the teams' records, as well as the SEC standings for this year.
