Thin-Skin Cowboys Owner Crashes Out in Dallas Radio Interview
The Owner of the Dallas Cowboys threatened the jobs of local radio hosts in Dallas after his team was blown out by the Detroit Lions, 47-9.
Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones has always been a thin-skinned whiner when it comes to criticism of his team. He's been in charge of his roster construction and coaching hires for over two decades, and hasn't been able to produce a Super Bowl winner since Jimmy Johnson's fingerprints have left the franchise.
Jerry Jones loves to take the praise when they find a gem in a draft, like Dak Prescott; but Jones refuses to take blame when the Cowboys add a terrible player, or refuse to add a free agent that would help the team. Over the last few off seasons, the Cowboys have made curious decisions when it comes to their roster moves. Waiting to sign Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, refusing to consider signing Derek Henry, and drafting corner backs Nahshon Wright and Kelvin Joseph.
So when Jerry Jones wants to go on Dallas radio for his weekly show, to flaunt his ego, he was met with questions that he did not enjoy this week. The hosts were doing their job, and wanted to ask the questions that every Dallas fan wants to ask, but Jones didn't like that. Here's what happened, and how former players reacted:
The Jones to threaten the jobs of these guys, live on-air, is despicable. Jones asks for this radio time every week, he could say "no" whenever he wants and nothing bad will happen to him. So when you want the time, you have to take what comes with it.
When the emperor is told he's naked, Jerry Jones prefers to threaten people using his power. Which drew this response from Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe:
"I hate, I detest, I despise someone that will prey on the weak. And because Jerry Jones is in an advantageous situation, because he has the power in this situation, he would actually say that publicly. That tells me a lot about a man. That tells me a lot about a man that has power and would abuse that power to tell that man, 'I will get someone in here to ask me favorable questions.'... What do you think his job was?"
Jerry Jones' crash out was covered by multiple national outlets, all who defended the local Dallas radio hosts, and their questions.
Jerry Jones is a guy who has ridden on luck for his whole life, and acts like he invented breathing. Jones' parents were wealthy, when he flamed out on his business ventures (pizza places) he was gifted a big job at his dad's insurance company. When he failed at other business attempts, he tried to get a loan to buy the San Diego Chargers, but everyone looked at his track record in business and decided to stay away. Then he started and oil and gas exploration business, and finally hit.
So yeah, Jerry Jones built up a fortune in the oil and gas industry, after failing how many times in different industries?
Then he bought the Dallas Cowboys for a low number, and leveraged his friends to help him build it up. He fired legendary Dallas icons like Tom Landry and Tex Schramm, and replaced them with his former college buddy Jimmy Johnson. Which was the best thing Jones ever did.
Johnson was able to build up an offensive juggernaut that brought the franchise 3 Super Bowl wins (though Johnson only coached two, his players won the third). But Jones struggled with the fact that everyone could see Jimmy Johnson was winning these Super Bowls, and that Jones wasn't important to the outcomes. So they split.
Since Jimmy Johnson's fingerprints have left the franchise, the team has never made it back to an NFC Championship game, let alone a Super Bowl. With Jerry Jones in complete control of the franchise over that time period.
Jerry Jones is a little, scared old man who is lashing out at others while his cognitive abilities are declining in front of us all.
