Faster than a speeding bullet could announce that Supergirl would swoop in an official actor to play Superman, the Man of Steel is already here. Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin will officially don the boots and red cape, appearing as both Superman and Clark Kent in two episodes of the new CW season.

News recently broke that Superman will make his first appearance on Supergirl in season two, which is something of a surprise. Many people have commented that Supergirl's portrayal of Superman is the best there’s been on TV or the movies in years, even though he’s barely in it. He’s a distant figure, far away. And the more I think about it, the more I wonder if that’s not the best way to handle the character in the role many people want him to occupy.

For as many Superman movies exist, there are just about twice as many versions of the iconic superhero that didn’t make it to the big screen. Perhaps the most famous of the bunch is Tim Burton’s Superman movie, which would have starred Nicolas Cage. But there was another notable project that never got off the ground, with Jude Law briefly attached to play the Kryptonian hero. There are a few reasons why that movie didn’t move forward, but for his part, Law explains what made him change his mind about taking on the famous role.

George Pérez, born June 9, 1954, is one of superhero comics’ most enduring and iconic artists, with a bold, energetic style that helped define both the Marvel and DC visual universes, and an influence on the genre that has stood the test of time. Pérez first made his name at Marvel Comics in the mid-'70s, quickly graduating to high-profile titles such as Fantastic Four and The Avengers. His work on the Avengers story "The Korvac Saga" established one of his hallmarks; he was one of the best artists around if you needed a crowd shot packed with as many superheroes as the page would allow!

The CW’s Supergirl took a tremendous leap forward (in a single bound) for Season 2, finally putting a face to its version of Superman, but what of the Man of Steel’s nemesis? Get ready to meet Lex Luthor … oh, wait, Lex Luthor’s sister, and a host of new regulars when Supergirl moves to The CW this fall.

Were Supergirl and Gotham not Superman and DC-adjacent enough for you? Syfy has good news. After a long gestation, Syfy’s Super-grandpa prequel drama Krypton is all-but-confirmed for a pilot order, as written by Man of Steel scribe David Goyer.

Since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hit theaters (and even prior to that), there’s been nothing but talk of the Justice League movies, a new Batman solo film starring and possibly (probably) directed by Ben Affleck, and various other DC superhero movies. But there’s one potential project that hasn’t been discussed: another Superman solo film. Warner Bros.’ DC movie schedule doesn’t include a sequel to Man of Steel, but that doesn’t mean that Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill aren’t thinking about it.

Young adult fiction is big business, and over the past few years, Marvel and DC have tried to grab a share of that pie. After a few experiments in the field, DC has announced four new young adult novels featuring some of its biggest characters.

There are a lot of different versions of DC Comics' characters out there in collectible form. From action figures to vinyl figures, from Hot Wheels to chess pieces, it's hard to find ways to stand out from the crowd. This is particularly troublesome for the Trinity of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. The tree pillars of the DC Comics Universe have had numerous entries in the toy catalog, and without delving into Radioactive Isotope with Night Vision Armor, there isn't much new that can be done that hasn't been done before. That's what makes these new XXRay vinyl figures from Mighty Jaxx interesting. Based on designs from Jason Freeny, whose spent a great deal of time creating the skeletal and internal organ features of numerous pop culture figures. This time he's teamed with Mighty Jaxx to bring the bisected DC Heroes to life in strange, fascinating fashion. I mean, who hasn't always wanted to see what Superman's skeleton would look like, caricaturized as it may be?

This is it. The moment you’ve waited nearly two hours (and technically more than two years, since the film was announced at Comic-Con 2013): Batman and Superman are going to square off. God versus man. Day versus night. Collateral damage ignorer versus criminal brander. Who will prevail? We’re finally going to know!

The hype surrounding DC Rebirth is quickly heating up as we approach the big announcement at WonderCon this Saturday. All we know so far is the titles of the comics, but DC Comics’ Twitter account has been uploading video hints at what we can expect, with split-second looks at some of the characters involved in the relaunch. Ahead of the big reveal this weekend, we’ve slowed things right down to get a glimpse of what we can expect from Rebirth.
