If you weren't at the CenturyLink Center in Bossier City Saturday night, chances are you're one of the few who weren't.  Martina McBride and George Strait performed to a sell-out crowd,  in fact traffic was so congested many missed Martina McBride, who took the stage at 7:30 pm.

As Sugarland‘s Jennifer Nettles remarked, Martina McBride has one of the best voices in music — not just in country, but in all genres. McBride practically floated as she sang her rendition of ‘Please Come Home for Christmas’ on the Dec. 1 ‘CMA Country Christmas’ special, which we’d argue could be the performance of the evening.

While we’ve been enjoying the newer names at the 2011 CMA Awards and reveling in awards like Best New Artist, there’s something comforting about a familiar face. Martina McBride was just that tonight as she offered up a smooth performance of her inspiring single ‘I’m Gonna Love You Through It’ from the central stage.

Country reigns supreme once again over at ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ The Band Perry performed, and Julianne Hough and Blake Shelton graced the stage over on ‘DWTS’ recently. Some of country music’s  newer stars came together to help a good cause this Labor Day. Performing on the MDA Labor Day Telethon this weekend were Martina McBride, Lady Antebellum and Darius Rucker.

With a new album set to hit stores early next week, George Strait is making plans to hit the road. Strait announced on Wednesday that he’ll begin touring in January 2012 but didn’t divulge specific cities or dates. He did reveal, however, that Martina McBride had agreed to open up for him...
