Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Investigators have made in arrest in connection with a Monday murder in north Shreveport.

Just before 1:00 p.m., Monday (11/22/21) Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a shooting in the 1700 block of Alda Street. Arriving officers located 61-year-old Gary Lee suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

Investigators responded to the scene. CSIU personnel photographed the scene and collected evidence and Investigators canvassed the neighborhood and interviewed witnesses. Through the course of their investigation, they developed 63 year-old Jimmy Cockerhem  as the person they believe responsible for the murder. Detectives believe that Lee and Cockerhem had an ongoing feud that escalated to this incident.

On November 24, 2021, Cockerhem surrendered himself to investigators at the Shreveport Police Complex. Following interviews with investigators, he was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of Second-Degree Murder.
