Shreveport Man Arrested For Stealing Parts Off of City Vehicles

A Shreveport man is accused of stealing the catalytic converters off of a number of vehicles owned by the city.

The Suspect

45-year-old Anthony Lee Briskey was already being held at the parish's Caddo Correctional Center when the charges of simple burglary and simple criminal damage to property were added Monday.

The Charges

The latest charges are connected with crimes dating back to late January when five vehicles belonging to the City of Shreveport's streets and drainage office on Claiborne Avenue were vandalized and engine parts were taken.

Part of an Organized Ring?

Police suspect that Briskey is part of a ring of thieves connected to the thefts of catalytic converters from a number of vehicles in Shreveport. In fact, rewards are being offered for information that leads to arrests in connection with thefts of these and other emissions devices. Previous Charges are Lengthy

According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, Briskey has been jailed since early February. He is charged with two probation violations and a single count of theft, burglary, damage to property, possession of dangerous controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.

Briskey's bond is currently set at $110,000.
