Key & Peele-Inspired Saints Schedule Release: Kellen Moore Gets an Anger Translator
The New Orleans Saints followed the recent NFL tradition of producing scripted and staged videos for their schedule release for their 2025 schedule. In order to pull off their video for this year, they borrowed from a classic comedy TV sketch.
Head Coach Kellen Moore Gets an "Anger Translator"
For the 2025 schedule release video, the New Orleans Saints took a page from the Key and Peele playbook, and introduced an "anger translator" for new Saints Head Coach Kellen Moore. This is a bit introduced over a decade ago on the Comedy Central show Key & Peele, which showed Luther, President Obama's "anger translator:
The History of the Viral Key & Peele "Anger Translator" Sketch
The bit first appeared in the show all the way back in January of 2012. The skit became so popular, the real Obama brought Luther (actor Keegan-Michael Key) to the White House Correspondents' Dinner in 2015.
This year, the New Orleans Saints decided resurrect this 13 year old bit to reveal their 2025 schedule. Unfortunately for them, the version that they put together didn't execute the humor as was well as Key & Peele did.
Comparing the Saints' Schedule Reveal Video to Other Teams
It was a solid effort from everyone involved, from the press members jumping in, to the coaching staff playing along. It just wasn't that strong. While other teams are either going super low-key with a cityscape backdrop and schedule reveal, others are going viral for their giant Minecraft productions.
The Saints schedule release is a lot like a Saints season, they tried more than other teams, but ultimately fell short of the playoffs at the end.
